The Associate Director, Actuarial Services is a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for health plan leadership in ensuring that program rates are competitive. This individual will lead analytical efforts to support the rate setting process, and will determine its impact on premiums and various product proposals. Provide consultative services on pricing methodologies and the preparation of cost estimates. Projects may include:- IBNR (Incurred But Not Reported) calculations- Determining reserves- Evaluating actuarial models- Supporting regulatory filingsThe Associate Director leads and manages teams with responsibility for coaching actuaries and developing student actuaries UnitedHealthcare Community & State Actuarial offers you the opportunity to support pricing for one of the nation's leading managed Medicaid carriers. This role will manage a team of actuarial analysts to support several states' pricing needs. This includes new business and renewal pricing along with healthcare economics projects.
Qualifications:
Requirements:- Bachelors Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related degree. - Must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed at least 2 or more exams- ASA or FSA designation highly preferred- 5+ years of experience in Actuarial health care, specifically with experience in developing program rates and pricing methodologies for Medicare, HMO, PPO, POS, Medicaid or Specialty Benefits products. - 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred - Expert level proficiency in building models in Excel, SAS, SQL and/or VBA. - Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
